projects
This project forms an ongoing exploration of attention, ritual, and poetic correspondence.
I love to write poems and poetic fragments. It helps me to see my inner life and the outside world more clearly, or anew, as I weave and bend words into new forms and combinations.
With touching, tending, these poems are brought into physical circulation: handwritten, sent by post, received in private time.
Each poem is written over the course of a month. The following month, I handwrite the poem into 12 booklets and send them by post to a small circle of readers.
An invitation for both myself and the readers, to connect to my poetry through ritual.
Over the course of a year, the poems can be assembled into a bound collection. An archive of touch, rhythm and attention.
Over time, I have been searching for ways to both nourish my writing practice and share my work in a way that feels true to its nature. I realized that, for me, both the writing and the sharing of poems need to happen offline: in a space that feels intimate, intentional, slow.
“Ik bekleed me met innekeer,
fluwelen dekens vangen mij op”
If you would like to receive a handwritten poem from me by post every two months, you are welcome to join the circle.
Please send an e-mail to brechjemeijers@hotmail.com, with the title: touching, tending.
The number of readers is intentionally limited (max. 12) to keep the practice slow and sustainable.
Each envelope carries a new handwritten poem in Dutch and/or English.

where they’re taking a rest."

My writing moves associatively through inner and outer landscapes, bodily memory, and moments of transformation.
I purposefully do not decide on a specific theme for this project a priori, as I want to keep myself open to whatever will emerge.
